Through gender-sensitive sport and dedicated GBV training, YSAT South Sudan works with communities in the Greater Pibor Administrative Area to break down gender stereotypes, prevent gender-based violence, and promote tolerance and respect between groups.
All projects below are implemented in the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA), Jonglei State.
YSAT conducted a gender-sensitive games and sports tournament to break gender stereotypes in Pibor, with 10 football teams — 5 female and 5 male — taking part. A total of 220 players were involved, helping to promote tolerance and respect among communities in the Greater Pibor Administrative Area. The tournament ran from 4 to 8 August 2023 at Pibor Boys' Primary School, and was officially launched by the Youth Chairperson.
Full Project DetailsYSAT conducted GBV training for 58 participants — 36 women and 22 men — at its Innovation Centre in the Pibor Administrative Area, held from 5 to 7 April 2023. The training increased women's knowledge of how to resolve conflicts in their communities peacefully and respectfully. One participant said: "Now I can be able to speak up of my right as a woman and be respected. I will not be taken as a property."
