Education in Emergencies South Sudan

Education in Emergencies is not yet a standalone strategic programme area for YSAT in South Sudan. Access to education for displaced and at-risk children is currently addressed as part of YSAT's broader humanitarian response work, with plans to grow into a dedicated programme as resources allow.

Not Yet a Standalone Programme

While Education in Emergencies operates as a full programme area in Uganda, it has not yet been established as a separate SPA for YSAT's South Sudan operations.

Embedded, Not Standalone

Education Access Within Humanitarian Response

In South Sudan, access to education for displaced and at-risk children is currently addressed as a component of YSAT's wider humanitarian response and anticipatory action work, rather than as a dedicated programme area in its own right. Education-related activities are integrated into existing projects where the need arises, particularly in displacement-affected communities.

Education Access Under the AHEAD Project

The clearest current example is the AHEAD project under SPA 1, where access to education is treated as both a protective factor and a stabilising force for displaced and at-risk children across Ayod, Magwi, Kajo-Keji, and Morobo. As AHEAD and similar projects grow, education-focused activities may form the basis of a future standalone SPA 4 for South Sudan.
