"She does not represent communities in the abstract. She lives among them, is accountable to them, and carries their perspectives directly into YSAT's governance."
Kiden Scovia is a South Sudanese refugee leader living in Uganda whose community governance roles put her at the heart of how Rhino Camp Refugee Settlement organises, advocates, and holds institutions to account. She previously served as Zonal Chairperson for Omugo Zone under the Refugee Welfare Council II structure, and currently serves as Youth Representative for Rhino Camp Refugee Settlement under Refugee Welfare Council III. These are not passive roles. They require navigating the competing needs of thousands of people, maintaining trust across generations and communities, and ensuring that the voices of the most marginalised are heard in spaces where decisions about their lives are made.
Kiden Scovia
Board Member — Right Holders Representative
Kiden is a certified Child Protection Advocate and brings a professional background that spans both the humanitarian and financial sectors. She previously worked as an Accountant with BRAC South Sudan before returning to Uganda, a trajectory that reflects both her range of skills and her commitment to remaining close to the communities she serves. Her combination of financial literacy, protection expertise, and deep community embeddedness gives YSAT's Board a perspective that is as practically grounded as it is principled.
At the core of everything Kiden does is a conviction that youth voices must be raised in every space that shapes their future. As Right Holders Representative on YSAT's Board, she ensures that the bridge between the organisation and the communities it serves remains open, honest, and two-directional. She does not represent communities in the abstract. She lives among them, is accountable to them, and carries their perspectives directly into YSAT's governance.
