James Latjor Thiyang is a MEAL Officer with the Youth Social Advocacy Team (YSAT), specialising in monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning for youth-focused programmes. He holds a Diploma in Business Administration from the Catholic University of South Sudan and brings extensive NGO experience from Catholic Relief Services, Christian Mission for Development, and Africa Leadership Skills Initiative. James is passionate about empowering young people, strengthening accountability, and ensuring sustainable community development.

MEAL Officer
At YSAT, James designs and implements monitoring frameworks, develops data collection tools, and conducts baseline, midline, and final evaluations to track progress against project indicators. He ensures accountability by establishing beneficiary feedback mechanisms, promoting transparency, and amplifying the voices of youth and vulnerable groups.
James facilitates knowledge-sharing sessions, documents lessons learned, and supports evidence-based decision-making. He manages project databases, ensures timely and accurate reporting, and presents findings to guide programme adjustments. He also builds capacity by training staff on M&E methodologies, mentoring colleagues on data quality, and strengthening organisational MEAL systems.
At Catholic Relief Services, he began as a Warehouse Assistant before being promoted to Project Officer. He has also worked with Christian Mission for Development and the Africa Leadership Skills Initiative, gaining expertise in project management, youth empowerment, and community development. With a strong commitment to transparency, accountability, and impact, James is passionate about advancing social advocacy, empowering young people, and ensuring that development programmes remain sustainable and responsive to community needs.
