From the Beginning
Jacob Nhail Bol is a South Sudanese refugee whose commitment to community-led change brought him to YSAT in its earliest days. When John Jal Dak founded Youth Social Advocacy Team in 2016 and registered it as a community-based organisation in July 2017, Jacob was among the first to embrace the vision — volunteering his time, energy, and lived experience of displacement to help the young organisation find its footing.

His personal history of conflict and forced migration gave him a deep understanding of what YSAT was trying to build: a space where displaced people do not wait for solutions to arrive from outside, but design and lead them from within. That conviction shaped how he contributed in those formative years, and it continues to guide his work at YSAT today.
